Thanks for liking us! Sadie and I really appreciate the love!
These pictures are from Sadie’s very first trip to the beach last year! It was cold that day, so I Sadie and I didn’t go into the ocean at all, but we still had a blast in the sand. When we first got there I stepped onto the beach but Sadie hesitated on the boardwalk. She was looking back and forth from me to the sand, as if asking “Really? I’m supposed to walk on this stuff? It’s ok for me to do that?” Once she stepped onto the sand she got used to it pretty quickly and followed me down toward the water. The motion and sound of the waves seemed a little scary for her, but unfortunately it was way too cold to go in and show her the ocean isn’t so scary (that is on our to-do list for this summer 🙂 ). Once Sadie was back on the dry sand and away from the waves, she really got excited about digging around in the sand. I was really amused watching her with this activity, because so far the only other holes Sadie has dug in her life are the imaginary holes she sometimes ‘digs’ in the bed or the couch to bury a treat in. Not long after the wind really picked up and forced Sadie and I to cut our beach adventure short. Hopefully this summer Sadie and I will find a warm, sunny day to spend some time at the ocean.

Your photo reminds me of a blog post I did some time ago featuring an ancestor with her kids and poodle at the beach, probably from 1918 or so. (I am a family historian.)

This makes us miss living on the North Sea Coast. For me any weather is beach weather and I go in the water no matter how cold it is. The beach is a super fun place!

Thanks so much for joining the hop. I can imagine crashing ocean waves would be a bit much for a doggie not used to them. Or maybe Sadie is a land lover? lol We don’t have a close ocean, the best we can do are the Great Lakes. I bet the brown dawgs would love to see an ocean.

Thank you for joining the blog hop.
Sampson has been in the ocean before and did okay with it. Delilah LOVES it. She is all water dog. She sees a body of water and loses her mind. I’d have trouble keeping her out no matter how cold it was! In fact, she went into a small brook at the end of December. She just had to.

My Tumble is 9 and has always enjoyed the beach more than the sea – until now! Finally at this ripe old age she suddenly discovered the sea can also be fun!
