Thanks for liking us! Sadie and I really appreciate all the love!
Like most dogs, Sadie loves to play with plastic water bottles. As a good mommy I make sure to remove the bottle cap and ring so there are no small parts she can choke on. Well, I try to most of the time, but sometimes that ring is just really difficult to remove. But before you get all upset about the dangers of dogs with plastic bottle rings, I need to mention that my dog comes with a built in safety feature which I like to call freeze frame. Whenever Sadie gets the ring partially off a plastic bottle, she has trained herself to freeze like a statue until I check on her. It doesn’t matter if I can see her or not, or even if I’m in the same room with her or not; Sadie will sit completely still with the bottle dangling from her mouth until I come and either take away the ring or tell her it’s safe to continue playing. If she has any kind of plastic dog toy and she breaks a piece off of it, she’ll just spit it out and keep on playing. She rips up papers and tissues and gets into other kinds of mischief all the time without my permission. But for some reason if there is a ring on a plastic bottle that is coming loose, Sadie must freeze all activity until I approve the situation. I think freeze frame is really her guilty conscience at work. She knows it’s bad to have the ring from a plastic bottle, so her conscience won’t let her continue playing until she does the right thing and hand over the ring. Whatever the cause for Sadie’s freeze frame behavior, it makes this overprotective mommy sleep a little easier knowing Sadie will be safe if she breaks into the recycling while I’m not around.

I’ll bet that’s a fun toy. We have never played with them here.

How useful! I wish Mort would freeze frame before he is about to get into trouble 🙂 Problem for him is trouble usually seems like fun (our “f” word)!!

I have “Harley Houdini” he loves to take the top off of the water bottles too! Dogs are so creative when it comes to entertaining themselves. Harley has never shown any signs of wanted to swallow the top or the ring, once it’s off the bottle – he’s finished.

Smart dog!!
Sadie sure is a clever pup!
Getting bottle caps off is one of my party tricks, I can do it in under 1 minute no matter how tight it is!
I also put safety first and always spit out the plastic bits and give them to my Mum! 🙂
Have fun,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
