These photos are from the day that Sadie realized she could go up and down the stairs. I had been trying to teach her for a of couple weeks, putting her paws up on each step, boosting her up, showing her what to do, but she was just too scared to go more than one step on her own. During that time my uncle came to visit, and he and Sadie had a great time running around, chasing each other. But then he would run up the stairs and tease her, and she would cry and bark because she couldn’t follow him. A few days later the concept finally clicked for her. She ran up and down those stairs over and over while I cheered her on. Continue reading

Sadie sat in the kitchen last night, wrapped up in her blankie, watching me make dinner. She was sitting there so nice and quiet and patiently that I decided to give her a tasty reward. When I offered her a piece of carrot from the stove she actually stuck her tongue out at me! I could just see her thinking “You call that a reward? I smell the steak you’re cooking. Continue reading
