Sadie is being a silly puppy right now with an elephant on her head. This is actually a hand towel I have decorating my bathroom. But one day Sadie decided to turn it into a hat. It was actually a really adorable hat for my silly pup, until an unfortunate incident that ended in a trunk amputation. Now it’s not as cute as a hat, but it still does its job as a hand towel.

It’s time for the Big Game! But this year it’s not just any Big Game, it’s the 50th Anniversary of the Super Bowl! (It’s also the 12th Puppy Bowl, which is pretty impressive too!)

This week’s #52Snapshots of Life theme is snuggly. In these photos, Sadie is all cute and snuggle with my stuffed bunny. This particular bunny was my favorite childhood stuffed animal. Not only did this bunny survive my childhood, including an accidental trip to a hotel laundry room, but it also survived Sadie’s puppyhood. As a puppy, Sadie considered all stuffed animals to be her toys and would routinely steal decorative stuffed animals from around the house. Somehow Sadie realized that this bunny was different, special. Even at four months old Sadie wanted to snuggle with this bunny, not eat or destroy it. And she still loves a bunny snuggle to this day.

Unfortunately for me, Sadie has figured out where I keep new toys that I haven’t given to her yet. At some point every day I can usually find Sadie sitting in front of the closet door, wishing that it would open and the new toys would jump out. If she sees me go near the closet, she runs over and looks expectantly from me to the closet, waiting for me to get her a toy. If I don’t immediately comply, Sadie grumbles, whines, and even barks at me to open the door and give up the toys. Sometimes I give in, but mostly I just ignore her in the futile hope that she’ll understand that she doesn’t get a new toy every time I go into the closet.
Sadie is super excited for today’s big game! She’s got all her toy footballs ready to play along. But instead of a silly football jersey, Sadie will be playing with her doggie footballs wearing her official Puppy Bowl pink cheerleader uniform!
Once the big game is over, Sadie plans to curl up on the couch and take a nap while the humans watch that other football game. This way she’s nearby when her cheerleading services are needed or when they drop any tasty snacks. Go Patriots!
