This is about as close as Sadie will to get any water, aside from the bathtub (where she doesn’t have a choice) and her kiddie pool (which is awesome and you should check it out here). I know lots of dogs enjoy playing in the ocean and in little streams that we see sometimes in parks, but Sadie won’t go near any of it. Although I feel bad that Sadie might be missing out on some fun, if I’m being honest I’m actually happy she doesn’t want to jump right in. Not only do I get to avoid all the hassle of a muddy, wet dog, but I also hate the water and don’t swim very well, so I’m glad I won’t ever have to jump in to chase after her.

A Little Park With a Big Surprise http://www.yourdesignerdogblog.com/2014/10/07/little-park-big-surprise/ http://www.yourdesignerdogblog.com/2014/10/07/little-park-big-surprise/#comments Tue, 07 Oct 2014 09:00:32 +0000 http://www.yourdesignerdogblog.com/?p=4016 dogs, designer dogs, yorkipoo, yorkie poo, waterfall

Sadie and I were inspired by #DogWalkingWeek to go out and explore somewhere new during one of our walks this week. Since we had to run an errand a few towns over from where we live, I decided to pick one of the parks in that town to explore. Sadie and I ended up at this really long, skinny park that was sandwiched between a very busy, four lane road and a river. It’s a fairly new park, so everything looked pristine. There was shiny new playground equipment, nice new benches, and walking/jogging paths that criss-crossed the well manicured lawn. But the park was entirely empty. Sadie and I couldn’t believe no one was utilizing such a beautiful park on such a beautiful day.

As we walked a little farther down the main path through the park, I noticed a partially open gate with a path beyond it that sloped downhill and out of sight. We could hear a loud noise coming from the bottom of the hill. Naturally I wanted to investigate, so I led Sadie through the gate. Not only did we find all the people absent from the rest of the park, but we also found a waterfall! There were people on benches enjoying the view of the waterfall halfway down the hill, and people fishing from the river down at the bottom. It was a perfect place to relax for a while in the middle of our walk.

After this walk I’m even more excited about changing up our walking routines and finding new, exciting places for Sadie and I to explore!
