It’s over 100 degrees out today, for the third day in a row. Definitely the type of weather that guarantees tongues will be out this Tongue Out Tuesday. But it is just too hot to play outside today, so Sadie decided to try on her special patriotic outfit in preparation for Flag Day tomorrow. Luckily the heat is supposed to break tonight, so Sadie and I plan on enjoying a nice Flag Day walk to enjoy our city’s special holiday display of flags.

Tongue Out Tuesday – Flag Day Edition
Flag – #52Snapshots
In honor of Flag Day last Sunday, this week’s #52Snapshots of Life theme is flag. Sadie is looking very patriotic here in her red, white, and blue dress, surrounded by American flags. I bought the little flags to decorate all of the flower beds around the house, but I thought they would be perfect for a Flag Day photo shoot first. Apparently I’m not great at making a nice circle and the wind kept trying to steal the flags, but I still managed to get some cute pictures.

Let Your Flag Fly – Today Is Flag Day!
Celebrate Flag Day!
Today is Flag Day, and with Summer just around the corner, it’s the perfect Saturday for some good, old-fashioned American family time, like a backyard barbecue and a game of fetch with your furry ones. In my town, Flag Day means the Avenue of Flags display. At our city hall complex, veterans and volunteers set up dozens and dozens of flags at dawn, lining every road, sidewalk, and path of the grounds. Though they are predominantly American flags, our state flag, city flag, and various military organization flags are also represented. The flags are placed into stands that are drilled into the ground, so that all the flags stand at perfect attention, at exactly the same height, and at precisely the same distance apart. All day people drive or walk through to marvel at the spectacle of so many flags flapping in the breeze. Sadie and I plan to enjoy a patriotic afternoon walk through the Avenue of Flags as our way of celebrating Flag Day.
