In these flashback photos from her first Christmas, Sadie is modeling a lovely example of an ugly Christmas sweater. Looks like it’s pretty tiring work being so cute and Christmas-y.

Today I’ve decided to share some #ThrowbackThursday pictures of my little pumpkin’s first Halloween. Unfortunately we didn’t get to celebrate much that year as Hurricane Sandy put a damper on our fun. But Sadie still made quite an adorable pumpkin, even if no one got to see her.

I love how this flashback photo of Sadie looks like 3D. Her little puppy head seems to be coming right out of the frame at you! This photo was taken the day I first bought Sadie her dog house, while she was sniffing around and exploring her new possession. When I brought the camera down lower for some dog’s eye view photos, Sadie stuck her head out towards me. It was like she was saying “Can I help you? No need to come any closer. This is my dog house now, so I’ll be in charge over here.”

On this Flashback Friday I’ve decided to show you a few of Sadie’s puppy pictures that didn’t turn out quite the way I planned. Every time I come across these photos I giggle, but I’ve never thought about showing them to others until now. Hopefully some of these will put a smile on your faces too.

In this flashback photo my adorable little puppy is posing with one of her butterfly toys. I must confess that I’m a little obsessed with all things butterfly. I don’t actually like the bugs themselves, but I love everything and anything with a butterfly design or in a butterfly shape. So when I was puppy shopping in preparation for bringing Sadie home the first time, naturally I sought out every dog-related butterfly product I could find. Sadie must have had at least ten butterfly toys waiting for her when she arrived. Unfortunately not a single butterfly lived past those first few weeks. Turned out my new puppy loved eating stuffed toys, including butterflies. I still can’t help but buy Sadie butterfly accessories like collars and dresses whenever I come across them, but I’ve learned my lesson with the stuffed toys. All stuffed animals now live well above Sadie’s reach. Occasionally you’ll find her staring longingly up at a stuffed animal, whining at me to get it down for her. But since I know she’ll only play with it for five minutes and then start to eat it, I now skip ahead and go straight to the eating: I distract with a healthy snack.
