On this Mischief Monday I’ve decided to share Sadie’s very first act of mischief. When I brought Sadie home from the farm where she was born, her only possession was a homemade blue felt blanket. I put the blanket in her crate when we got home so that she would have an item that smelled like her birthplace. After living with me for a few days, my mischievous little puppy began chewing on the blanket. Life with a puppy can be very hectic, so at the time I just threw the blanket out of her reach on top of the crate and went on with my day. A few hours later the house was too quiet and I knew my precocious little pup must be up to something. That’s when I found Sadie trying to steal her blanket. She had wriggled between the table legs to gain access to the side of the crate and was stretching up on her hind legs, reaching for the blanket with her mouth. I was too impressed to stop her. The blanket technically was hers, and it was my fault I didn’t put it away properly. So I let her enjoy the fruits of her mischief for a little while, before putting the blanket away for good.

Since the Blog Paws conference is later this week in Lake Las Vegas and those lucky enough to be able to attend should be packing soon, I thought I’d share some packing related mischief.
I’m packing for a trip a few months ago and I walk away for two seconds. When I come back, I find that Sadie has hopped into my suitcase and taken my socks hostage. It’s like she’s saying to me “Ha! Now you can’t leave because I have your socks!” Too bad I was headed to Florida and didn’t need socks anyway.

This weekend I did some Spring cleaning, putting away my warmest clothing until next winter. Sadie decided to help me when I rearranged my socks. She jumped into the bin and started trying to steal pairs of socks. Continue reading

Another form of mischief Sadie enjoys is slipper stealing. She loves to sneak around and take one from the floor and then prance off with her prize. If you’re not careful Sadie even tries to steal a slipper right off your foot when you’re sitting on the couch or a chair. Once she gets a slipper she runs around the house with it, trying to get you to chase her. If no one chases her, Sadie will shake the slipper a few times to make sure it won’t give her any trouble, then she will lie down and fall asleep curled up around her prize. Continue reading
